Australian nuclear energy proposals, water availability and acquisition options
About the author
Professor Andrew Campbell is semi-retired, dividing his time between Canberra and his family farm in western Victoria. Among influential roles in sustainable agriculture and research management in Australia for over thirty years, Andrew Campbell was Australia’s first National Landcare Facilitator, and was CEO of Land & Water Australia for seven years from 2000.
He concluded a seven-year term as Chief Executive of the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) in July 2023, followed by an interim role as Executive Managing Director of the global CGIAR network, based in Montpellier, France to the end of 2023. The ACIAR CEO reports directly to the Foreign Minister, and represents Australia on the System Council of the CGIAR – the world’s largest agricultural innovation network.
Andrew Campbell was also the 2021 chair of the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases. Andrew was elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (FTSE) in 2018. He is also a Board Director of AgriFutures Australia, an Honorary Professor in the ANU Fenner School, Principal Fellow in the Faculty of Science at the University of Melbourne, Fellow of the Australian Institute for Company Directors (FAICD), and Patron of Landcare in Victoria. He is a former board member of the Peter Cullen Water and Environment Trust, and the Future Farm Industries CRC, and a former President of the Australian Council for Environmental Deans and Directors.
Andrew Campbell has written widely on landcare, knowledge management and sustainability. He trained in forestry at Creswick and the University of Melbourne, then in rural sociology and agricultural knowledge systems at Wageningen Agricultural University in The Netherlands. Andrew is Managing Director of Triple Helix Consulting, and is still involved with the family farm in western Victoria, where his family has been farming since the 1860s.
